From 1993 to 2002, Faridah was co-director of Neil Cameron Productions, a visual theatre company producing large-scale celebratory events, often in a festival setting.
Her designs became well known for both the impact of their enormous size and structural complexity, and for their extraordinary richness of visual and symbolic detail.
Highlights from this period include:
- the opening event for the Melbourne International Festival of the Arts in 1995
- two awards for the Australia Day Event of the Year in the Northern Territory
- four major events for the Canberra Festival
- art direction of The River of Light, Queensland’s major event for the Centenary of Federation.
For 13 years her imagery formed the centrepiece of the hugely popular Fire Event at Woodford Folk Festival, a much-anticipated New Year’s ritual for thousands of festival-goers. The Fire Event of 2000 was one of only 12 events selected to represent Australia for the international television coverage of millennium celebrations.
